Newland House is a co-educational day preparatory school. There are two classes in each age group in the pre-prep department and three parallel classes in the 7 to 13 age group. Most of the girls take entrance exams to their next schools at 11 years. The boys stay on to take either Common Entrance or Scholarship exams at the age of 13. The school has a fine academic record with many scholarships having been won to major schools in recent years. There are excellent facilities with two well equipped science laboratories, computer room, DT and Art rooms, various subject rooms, large Gym and Assembly Hall and music rooms. Our thriving music department offers a wide range of instrument tuition. We have a good tradition of wind and brass teaching, solo singing, string section and recently added to this are two teachers who offer pop, rock and classical guitar. The school also has a strong reputation for sport - the boys main games being rugby, cricket, swimming, soccer and hockey; the girls play netball, rounders and swimming. There are plenty of out of school clubs and activities, in term time, and during the holidays, available for those children who wish to participate.
